My life is put on hold when I play with clay…it is the one activity that engages me so totally my thoughts are simply unable to wander. It is enormously gratifying to use my hands to give form to the clay. I do this mostly by throwing on the potter’s wheel, and then altering the pot if I want to create one that is not round. Although my forms can be described as sculptural, most of my pots are functional too. Beauty, for me, lies in undecorated simplicity.
Whereas clay allows me to give form to my imagination, photography allows me to capture the forms and textures I discover in the natural world. I love seeking out the 'wood' among the trees. I hope you enjoy seeing my point of view!
